I have over 12 years experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in home based family counseling, for a large national employee assistance program, and for the last 5 years in an outpatient clinic setting. I believe that we all have the answer within us that can take us to a better place in our lives, but that at times these answers can be elusive. I see myself as a co-facilitator with the client(s) in gaining a deeper understanding of the issue, and then helping the client use this understanding to guide themselves toward solutions and a better place in their life.
With children, I often include the parents in the therapy, and work to find practical solutions and strategies that help manage the issue at hand. My philosophy is that the person is never the problem, and that there are always answers to be found that can help each person, or family, overcome the obstacles in their life.
