Intervention Resources is an innovative program developed by Lakewood Counseling and Career Center. It initially began with services for adolescents and has now expanded its services to adults.
Intervention Resources offers the following services for adolescents:
Chemical Use Only Assessment
Chemical Use and Mental Health Assessment
Beyond Sobriety Group
Intervention Resources offers the following services for adults:
Chemical Use Interventions
Chemical Use Only Assessment
Chemical Use and Mental Health Assessment
Beyond Sobriety Group
Intervention Resources provides parents, employers, and concerned individuals the tools to gather needed information, to discern the issues, to prioritize needs, and develop options. Those participating in an assessment will leave with a summary of the findings and a detailed list of recommendations and resources based on a process which includes:
a chemical health interview
a chemical health/family history interview
a psychosocial assessment
psychological testing
clinical screening of academic performance (adolescents)
The assessment process can be complicated by undiagnosed and/or untreated mental health or academic/employment issues (i.e. anxiety, depression, attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities, etc.) Finding the underlying cause(s) of an individual's chemical use is the purpose of Intervention Resources.
The adults also may find the intervention process itself helpful in guiding a using adult to ask for and obtain help. Once the process of recovery has begun, it is common for adolescents and adults to find themselves stuck in old behaviors or unable to develop the relationships and skills needed to fulfill their wants and dreams. The time limited group, Beyond Sobriety, is designed to work through the issues to author a more satisfying recovery.
